Data breach fatigue is said to be growing because of the sheer volume of data breaches that are happening on a continual basis.<\/p>\n

In case you\u2019re not aware, data breach fatigue is the idea that people are becoming less and less bothered about data breaches because they\u2019re happening all the time. It\u2019s almost as if there\u2019s no longer a \u2018uniqueness\u2019 to the concept of someone falling victim to a data breach, and this can lead to a \u2018group think\u2019 kind of scenario where each individual\u2019s interest in the risk can be diluted.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s said to be growing, and this could be very bad news for all of us.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Why data breach fatigue is so bad<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Data breach fatigue being on the rise is bad for us all. It can lead to victims becoming lazy about their need to take action when they do fall victim to a data breach, and this can lead to scammers and fraudsters being able to get away with much more.<\/p>\n

It could also leave organisations less inclined to take data protection more seriously when data breach fatigue is leading to victims being \u201cless bothered\u201d about an incident. We already know that criminals specifically target the more vulnerable organisations<\/strong><\/a>, so anyone not taking their responsibilities seriously must step-up their efforts.<\/p>\n

Will data breach fatigue ever get better?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

It may be the case that data breach fatigue will just get worse and worse. Look at this year alone: there\u2019s already been so many massive breaches involving millions of people worldwide, and businesses may be ignoring the big data breach headlines<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re passionate about making sure that victims of a data breach are entitled to compensation<\/strong><\/a>, and we\u2019re passionate about organisations being duly punished when they fail in their responsibilities to protect the data they hold. Data breach fatigue could hamper this and lead to organisations thinking they can get away with not paying enough attention to protecting people\u2019s data, and that could leave millions in danger.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
