Here’s a bit of a brief ‘what you need to know’ when it comes to the BA data breach class action, given that we continue to take new cases on all the time.

We understand that many people will want the answers to a number of questions before they sign-up for a case. It can be a bit scary when it comes to formally instructing a lawyer to represent you for something like this, so let’s try and put your mind at ease.

We’ll answer some of the common questions that are asked, but as always, please don’t hesitate to speak to our team if you need to. To go ahead and sign-up to join the BA Groupie Action, you can visit the website here.

What is the BA data breach class action?

The BA data breach class action is a case for compensation that stems from the 2018 cyberattacks. Although the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has issued an intent to fine the airline £183m, this does not go toward compensating the victims who suffered.

And that’s what the BA Group Action that we’re on the Steering Committee for is designed to do.

We can represent victims on a No Win, No Fee basis for a case as we look to obtain compensation for victims who have been  affected by the attacks. Compensation can come in many forms, from damages for the distress caused by the breach, or for any financial losses suffered.

You may also be able to claim for simply being a victim of the attacks as well.

When is the deadline?

The deadline to join the BA data breach class action has been set for January 2021. Although this may feel like far away, it will come around quickly!

Having been involved in dozens of group action cases like this in the past, we can tell you from considerable experience that some people will miss the deadline. We still get new enquiries from people for actions we closed our books on long ago. Once the court deadline has past, it’s incredibly difficult to be a part of the action.

There’s also a great deal of work that needs to be done before the deadline hits as well. Getting your case set up early can be beneficial, and we recommend that you sign-up ASAP to avoid missing out.

What is our role in the action?

We have been fighting for the rights of BA data breach victims since news of the breaches came to light, representing thousands of people on a No Win, No Fee basis.

This is testament to our commitment to justice for victims from the very breaking of the news about the attacks.
