There has been a key update in the TalkTalk data breach scandal from 2015, as the information for thousands more victims affected in the scandal has been found online.

An additional 4,545 customers are understood to have been affected after their information was discovered online. This is in addition to the over 155,000 that were found to have been affected years ago.

We’re representing a group of victims who are claiming data breach compensation having been affected by the original incident. If you’ve yet to claim, or if you’re one of the thousands of additional victims who have been affected, we may be able to help you.

TalkTalk data breach scandal widens

The TalkTalk data breach scandal has widened after the discovery that the information for an additional 4,545 victims has been found online.

This data is understood to have been breached from the original incident and is not a new incident.

News that the number of victims has widened comes as no surprise to us. A number of the people we’ve spoken to were told that they were not affected by the breach, and that includes claims we have taken forward. There has been whispers that TalkTalk may never know for sure the exact numbers of victims as well.

When people are being contacted by criminals who try to scam them using information they have somehow learned about them which includes TalkTalk account data, where else has the information come from?

Information found online

The information found online for the thousands of new victims that’s linked back to the original TalkTalk data breach includes:

  • Names;
  • Postal addresses;
  • Email addresses;
  • Phone numbers;
  • Customer account numbers;
  • Bank account information.

The additional victims have potentially been at risk of fraud for years given that the above information is enough for someone to fall victim to fraud. They may already have been targeted but have only now discovered that they were affected.

Many may not have had the chance to protect themselves if they were previously told that they weren’t affected.
